9/7/2025 - More moving things around. I added an about me section to the notebook finally
8/23/2025 - Okay more major changes, I've moved around pretty much all of my elements as well as added this notebook that has tabs using dogmeat.com's notebook template I also noticed that it seems the original template I used from Evilperson (and then modified beyond recognition) no longer exists nor does their page.
8/16/2025 - I've been out of town and unable to update but I'm back now! Notebook graphic has been updated to a better one and I moved the tent to the right side. I am still trying to figure out what I want to do as a whole. I have so many ideas I just need to figure out how I want to execute them.
7/26/2025 - HTML is starting to make a little more sense! I've started updating some graphics and figuring out how I want the layout.
7/25/2025 - I used evilperson's journal template as a starting base and have been editing from there!
Hello and welcome to my woods! My name is Alex and I am a major insect enthusiest creating this site at the urging of my beloved fiancee. I am learning HTML as I go and so this will probably majorly be a WIP as I slowly update it bit by bit for the next little while.
I also plan for this to be a home to things I work on and projects I do, a kind of collection of my thoughts, interests, photography, and an attempt to help share a little bit of the wonder the world brings me.
Thank you for being here and please come back!
Hi! My Name is Alex. I adore nature, traveling and making art! Over the last few years I have developed a fascination with and love for arthropods. I am particularly drawn to parasitoid wasps and gall making arthropods of all kinds (although gall making wasps in particular hold a special place in my heart). I am also a fiber arts enthusiest and enjoy sewing, crochet, weaving, and embroidery. I have never been particularly interested in creating a website nor did I know anything about HTML but my fiancee enlightened me to the endless possibilities of neocities and using it as an artistic outlet for my love of nature education.
My biggest focus these days is on my insect photography. I put a great deal of energy into going to various woods near me in order to photography and catalog what I see and can find. I've found it is a really great way for me to connect with the world around me and immerse myself in the cycle of life that is happening all around us. While insects are my favorite subjects by far I will photography pretty much anything living that I can get my "hands" on.
I also fairly extensively use INaturalist. INat was what initially got me into photographing the world around me and has really sparked that interest in what I share this world with. I feel like once you begin to notice the creatures you live side by side with that might not normally cross your mind it really opens up the world to you. I think we as a society tend to think of ourself as removed from the web of life and as the highest level there is while ignoring the systems that exist beyond us.
There is something just so aweinspiring to me about how little we know about the world around us. There is truly beauty all around us as long as we just look for it. My hope with my photography is to capture these small moments in the world around us that may go unnoticed.
